Online Learning Vs Face to Face Learning

Nowadays, online learning has become as easy as video calling a friend! Online learning is a great way to get some help for your assignments, projects or even to learn a new language now. Once people get interested in any of these facilities, many platforms demand unreasonable amount of money to customers interested to access it further. However, there are some amazing platforms which provide great online tutoring and which are affordable too. How cool, right? But before I reveal one of such platforms, I will enlist some of the advantages of online learning and the shortcomings of face to face learning.

Time Management

Time is the most priceless and valuable gift we all have in this world. So, how are time and learning related? With time, interest, efficient learning and commitment one can learn a new language and get better at it with time if used/practiced regularly. Additionally, it can get exhausting when we have to travel for classes or work for hours let alone the travel expenses. Therefore, online learning makes it time-saving and cheaper. After the session, both, student and tutor can do other activities and work for the rest of the day.

Money

Online learning would apparently be much cheaper than face to face learning as schools, tuition, colleges and universities can get very pricey for students of any age especially if not supported by parents. Most schools also ask the students to buy expensive books and many other stationery items. Therefore, online classes are far cheaper and beneficial as the student would only need a few of those which he would for school.

Convenience

One can sit at a cafeteria and tutor/learn as well. Let’s say, it’s a rainy day and people have to carry raincoats or umbrellas while going out, you could just sip your coffee in your bedroom and attending your online class! Additionally,in situations such as now when the Corona Virus outbreak can become majorly obstructive, education and work become greatly safe, efficient; this way simply facilitating for all to continue if classes or meetings are held online.

Safety

Online learning is safe for the student as he/she doesn’t need to commute but remain in the house as a familiar environment for the child. Also, allows parents to keep an eye on the tutor’s behavior and approach towards the child.

Choice of tutors

Did you have that one teacher in school you hated or wished they didn’t exist? Well, you don’t have to worry about that now, as you or the parents of the child can choose the online tutor as per preferences. This makes it easy as the student and the tutor can check out if they resonate with each other. If not, then one can afford to pick a suitable tutor for them and if yes, then enjoy having an amiable tutor just for you. So, you see how flexible online learning can get!

Fun yet educational

Many might think of the idea of online learning might be a bad one. For, as it’s not face to face, may be it the student might not study much at all. However, that’s not the case. In June 2012, Cherie Mazer, a student of the Harvard School of Education, published a whitepaper report that highlights the benefits of having an online college tutor. Her findings display a substantial result of students who signed up for online learning classes performed better than those who had not enrolled for the online tutoring, by getting higher grades, better attitudes and retention rates. This was possible because students felt more liberated and confident when had their queries answered.

Feedback

Feedback is crucial for a student’s progress. So, not only it is possible to have a positive feedback from the online tutor but he/she,by the odds should be able to provide feedback to the student after every session which is quite unlikely to have as benefit even when having a class face to face with teacher after the class for various reasons.

Social pressure

There is no social pressure of a teacher monitoring the student as the physicality of a teacher present throughout the class lacks as it’s only limited to a screen which doesn’t seem to put pressure on the child as much as in real.

Social awkwardness

Social awkwardness has always been a problem for some. And the best part about online learning is that it allows the student to feel physically comfortable and secure as the real presence of the teacher is not there. This is exactly why this point is similar to the former one.

Student’s growth/progress

Moreover, in online learning the student gets undivided attention from the tutor, has more time just for him, this way progress happens faster and more efficiently.

Technology

Technology is today’s gift we all have. This allows the student not to stay within the four walls and still have the online learning class. One can even travel and study. Evidently, technology is helping and also teaching the student to be more skilled by using dropbox, emails, etc. easily.
